Tree Planting with orphans
Tree Planting Day with Orphans in Thailand
"A Green day with Asia Forestry!"
Asia Forestry coordinated and sponsored a tree planting and activity event for orphans from the Human Development Foundation's Mercy Centre in Klongtoey, BKK.
The event took place on Saturday October 27, at Thailand's Royal Forestry Department's Eco-Green Area at Phra Phradaeng, Samut Prakarn. Phra Phradaeng is situated opposite Bangkok's Klong Toey port and is a popular weekend getaway for locals and adventure tourists.
Objectives
- Give the children a fun, meaningful and educational day
- Raise awareness of PATT,
- Promote environmental awareness and the role of trees in our world
The Day
The Thailand Royal Forestry Department kindly donated space in their Eco-Green park along with a member of staff who educated the children about trees and the role they play in the environment. The children then planted at least one seedling each. The Eco-Green park is a beautifully landscaped area with garden, lakes and recreational facilities. The children and volunteers enjoyed the day knowing that they have contributed to the beauty of the area and the environment as a whole.
The children were able to enjoy bicycle riding, canoing and peddle boat riding as well as games on the grass with staff and clients. The wide open space and fresh air made a really pleasant change from life in the city and was a fun day enjoyed by all.
